Our History

Ramon W. Breeden, Jr. founded The Breeden Company in 1961 and formed The Breeden Company, Inc. and its various subsidiaries in 1967.

Mr. Breeden graduated from the University of Virginia with a Bachelors Degree in Commerce in 1956. He completed post-graduate studies at the University of Richmond in 1958. Mr. Breeden then worked in several different organizations, principally involved in the real estate mortgage industry between 1958 and 1961 when he founded his present day company. Initially formed as a residential homebuilder, the Breeden organization expanded into apartment and commercial construction, development, management, ownership and investing during the 1970's and 1980's.

As transactions became larger, The Breeden Company developed expertise in multi-use apartment, commercial, hotel and office sites. In 1990, The Breeden Company entered into hotel and resort development and has developed three hotel/timeshare resorts. Since 1990, the Breeden timeshare resort division has sold more than $150,000,000 of timeshare intervals and currently has more than 15,000 owners in their developments.

The Breeden Company is now expanding its real estate investing activities into Richmond, Charlottesville, and the northern areas of Virginia and South Florida.
